Root canal treatment is undertaken when the tooth nerve is irreversibly damaged or has died due to trauma or decay. The infected nerve and pulp chamber is precisely cleaned, decontaminated and sealed in order to save the tooth from being lost. Once the root canal treatment has been completed it is advisable to have a crown to protect the tooth from fracture and restore the tooth function. Preservation of natural tooth substance is always our priority. Your dental practitioner will suggest the most suitable crown option to meet your specific needs.
Dental implants are becoming more popular as their success rates increase provided they are performed by a qualified and experienced practitioner. Implants can be placed as single or multiple units or to support a denture. It involves placing a small titanium fixture within the bone to replace the missing tooth root. After integration of the implant a permanent crown or bridge can be constructed over the stable implant fixture. This crown will be tooth colour matched and provides excellent stability and aesthetics. Dental implants are tooth preserving as they do not require adjacent teeth to be prepared.
